Bear in the Big Blue House - Early to Bed, Early to Rise [VHS] Overview
Evening and morning routines take center stage in this two-episode tape. In "Go to Sleep," Bear's small bear friend Ojo is spending the night but fights sleep even though she is tired. Meanwhile, a friendly game of "Go Fish" in the kitchen keeps waking Tutter the Mouse, whose hole is only feet away. The whole gang wakes up from a slumber party at the house in "Morning Glory." Bear teaches them the importance of a good breakfast, brushing teeth, and allowing slow wakers like Ojo a chance to get their bearings, so to speak. The seven-foot adult stand-in also puts the kids to work while serenading them with a round of "Clean Up the House" before they head out for the day. If only it were that easy with little humans. Toddlers through kindergartners will enjoy this 48-minute video from the popular PBS series. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Criteria for a children's video:
What children like before? Yes, my son loves it, sing along and asks me to sing along, too.
According Parents can see them without bonkers? Yep, so far, so good, every time I see him again I see new things. The dolls are demanding, and characters clearly. The music is fantastic, especially inspired by modern American folk - like large, easy violin and guitar, listening to music, rather than overproduced "Show Tunes". The simple musicThis also means that when I sing the songs after that to close it, that my son remembers from the show sounds.
Third Since children do not copy them on TV or in a book, what is happening in this video? Gentle humor, good manners, good music. All things are glad to see you emulate.
This is the Bare Bones (ha!) The taste of this series. But it goes beyond the base. __Bear__ Must get on subtle messages about nutrition, and social differences. For example, in one episode,Tutter mouse is a sandwich to eat, what he must learn to share. OK, you saw that coming. BUT! Without a great deal, did the producers of sandwich on whole wheat, nutrition support peaceful and happy.
Another example or two, if he sleeps on doing Ojo the bear, bear, his bed, very comfortable on the couch. If you celebrate a birthday (in another episode), it was home-made decorations and a significant gift. A message that you have Silenthave a lot of money to have a good time.
And there are significant female characters (Ojo, Shadow, Moon), which are not subject gui as in many children's videos (or movies, for that matter).
Bear is leading the series, but often sings harmony to some other character, so that a simple statement that there are always to be number one.
