VeggieTales - Where's God When I'm S-scared [VHS]

VeggieTales - Where's God When I'm S-scared [VHS] Overview

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber host another winning episode in this Christian-lite animated series aimed at 3-9 year olds, combining parable and parody in two lessons about fear. After watching a scary Frankencelery movie, Jr. Asparagus works through his fears of darkness and monsters to learn that "God is bigger than the Boogie Man." In Daniel and the Lions' Den, our cast of rollicking vegetables performs a highly engaging adaptation of the classic Bible story. Larry the Cucumber stars as God's humble and faithful servant Daniel. A supporting cast of green onions and asparagus--wisemen gone bad--sing their way to Daniel's fate: "We could use him as a footstool or a table to play Scrabble on then tie him up and beat him up and throw him out of Babylon." Co-creators Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki expertly combine classical, rock, jazz, and funk music with bold, energetic 3-D computer animation and plenty of witty dialogue. --Liane Thomas

Mulan (Disney's Masterpiece) [VHS]

Mulan (Disney's Masterpiece) [VHS] Overview

Solid entertainment from a new group of Disney animators. The story source is a Chinese fable about a young girl who disguises herself as a man to help her family and her country. When the Huns attack China, a call to arms goes out to every village, and Mulan's father, being the only man in the family, accepts the call. Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen, sung by Lea Salonga) has just made a disastrous appearance at the Matchmaker and decides to challenge society's expectations (being a bride). She steals her father's conscription notice, cuts her hair, and impersonates a man to join the army. She goes to boot camp, learning to fit in with the other soldiers with some help from her sidekick, Mushu, a wise-cracking dragon (voiced by Eddie Murphy). She trains, and soon faces the Huns eye-to-eye to protect her Emperor.

The film is gorgeous to look at, with a superior blend of classic and computer-generated animation. Directors Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook make the best of it: a battle in the snowy mountains is as thrilling as the best Hollywood action films. The menacing Huns are not cute but simple and bad. The wickedness is subtle, not disturbing. The film is not a full-fledged musical, as it has only five songs (the best, "Be a Man," is sung during boot camp). Eddie Murphy is an inspired choice for the comic-relief dragon, but his lines are not as clever as Robin Williams's in Aladdin. These are minor quibbles, though. The story is strong, and Mulan goes right to the top of Disney animated heroines; she has the right stuff. --Doug Thomas

My first encounter with this story of girls in China was an ancient warrior doll from the consideration of the character on Home Shopping Network is sometimes in the early '90s.
At that moment I could see how much publicity there would soon be in the Western world for the legendary predecessor of China Jeanne D'Arc in France, in a few years!
Disney animators have done a good job of capturing the flavor of Chinese history, and the layout is based on ancient Chinese watercolor paintings. We feel the numbers on the right came from the delicate, old-fashioned piece of paper, and basically timeless.
Our story begins with the gloomy scenario, the Mongol leader Shan Yu (Miguel Ferrer) and his troops crossing the recent construction of the Great Wall of China to conquer the land. The Emperor (Pat Morita) conscriptions orders that are formed are used by all the Chinese situation.
Elsewhere, in a beautiful province, the maid, who makes the differencePreparations for a meeting with the broker country (Miriam Margoyles). In short, the visit with the broker does not go well, and Mulan is in a funk on yet another failure, despite the father's attempt to console her.
Soon you reach the village of messengers to urge people to join the army. The culmination of this story is a dramatic confrontation with the Mongols in the Snowy Mountains, where Mulandiscovered a way to force the rear Shan-Yu, where the strength of its cutting forces seem overwhelming.

What makes this a great story for kids is that they are the flaws of Mulan, Mushu and Cri-Kee see, but can some perseverance, despite the mistakes of the past to learn, because these people believe in themselves and do their ability to do good. - Highly recommended story with the grace Oriental!

Evil Dead [VHS]

Evil Dead [VHS] Overview

In the fall of 1979, Sam Raimi and his merry band headed into the woods of rural Tennessee to make a movie. They emerged with a roller coaster of a film packed with shocks, gore, and wild humor, a film that remains a benchmark for the genre. Ash (cult favorite Bruce Campbell) and four friends arrive at a backwoods cabin for a vacation, where they find a tape recorder containing incantations from an ancient book of the dead. When they play the tape, evil forces are unleashed, and one by one the friends are possessed. Wouldn't you know it, the only way to kill a "deadite" is by total bodily dismemberment, and soon the blood starts to fly. Raimi injects tremendous energy into this simple plot, using the claustrophobic set, disorienting camera angles, and even the graininess of the film stock itself to create an atmosphere of dread, punctuated by a relentless series of jump-out-of-your-seat shocks. The Evil Dead lacks the more highly developed sense of the absurd that distinguish later entries in the series--Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness--but it is still much more than a gore movie. It marks the appearance of one of the most original and visually exciting directors of his generation, and it stands as a monument to the triumph of imagination over budget. --Simon Leake

Customer Reviews

"The Evil Dead" was originally established by all major Hollywood studios for its graphic representation of evil and become a force, but a European study has finally released after the film was premiered at the Cannes Festival. Estimated at about 300,000 dollars, the film would be a modest success at the box office Garner and, finally, a "cult" after it was released on video and DVD. The story is about five students who move himself in a lonely cabin in Tennessee. Whenfind an audio recording releasing the evil spirits of hell breaks loose. Do not watch this if you have a penchant for scary movies, like "The Evil Dead" is probably the most gruesome horror movies I've ever seen, even more than in "The Exorcist". Running just under 90 minutes, the DVD comes with audio commentary by its director / writer / producer Sam Raimi, Robert Topert, behind the scenes material and outtakes, trailers, television spots and more. This is an information bookletaccompanies the CD as well. When the film on DVD from Anchor Bay released the film has been completely renovated with new video and audio quality. Turn off the lights, grab your popcorn and watch this little gem. Trust me, will not be afraid!

Revolution (1985) [VHS]

Revolution (1985) [VHS] Overview

This big and sometimes messy movie achieves the seemingly impossible: it demythologizes the American Revolution and lets us see it in a completely new light. Hugh Hudson (Chariots of Fire) has directed a starkly beautiful, powerfully visceral portrait of war from the point of view of the little people who are swept along in its wake. Al Pacino is Tom Dobb, a poor, illiterate trapper bringing up a young son when rebellion breaks out in New York. Dobb's small boat is requisitioned for the war effort, and he and his son become reluctant conscripts. It takes six months and some truly vile treatment by the British before the conflict becomes personal for Dobb and he makes the American cause his own. The Dobb family's tale intersects that of British Sergeant Major Peasy (a formidable Donald Sutherland) and his own son. As the tide of the war turns, the enemies' fortunes are reversed. Tom's love interest, Daisy McConnahay (Nastassja Kinski), is a fiery beauty who breaks from her family of wealthy Tories (British sympathizers) to fight for freedom. Kinski is wonderful as a living Lady Liberty, and Pacino has some extraordinary moments of raw emotion as Dobb. The film's highlights include authentic, grisly re-creations of famous Revolutionary War battles, including Yorktown and Valley Forge. This movie will draw you in, gradually but inexorably, as it creates its convincing and compelling world. --Laura Mirsky

Customer Reviews

That has never been a perfect film, but is also a portrait of the war complelling Rev. Here's an attempt by the director and Al Pacino, to try to correct some errors in editing, which were made on the original film in 1985. Apparently, the production somehow fell and the result was a bargain bit 'confused. Po 'Order has been told by the film starring Al Pacino, as you go looking for. This is an innovation that is only hinted at in the original. TheThe result is a clearer idea of who was Dodd and a bit 'of his background.

The ad for the DVD case is a bit 'misleading as it claims it was taking a cut of a director with more than 40 minutes of the film. That is not so. The only addition is a discussion between the director and Al Pacino are discussing how they wanted to address the problems of the film. Some small parts were made in the original film. Signicficant change seems to be the end, where theCharacter Dodd no return with the girls. This is a big change from the original, changing the atmosphere of the film in this sense.

I like the fact that this film was released on DVD, but I am disappointed that it does not add any additional shots. This is a bit 'confusing for the buyer. However, I always for this film as a representation of one of the best fight scenes ever from Rev. War Battle of Brooklyn scene, but far more deadly than the originalAction gives the majesty and terror of the 18th Combat century in a way no other film has ever done. The effect of the rest of the film is anti-clamatic in comparison, but do not try to show a progression of events during the war of the Rev and how they affect ordinary people caught in it. The Donald Sutherland character that British Sergeant-Maj is really impressive.

Even an incomplete epic, but making a pair, have cleaned up a bit '. Bello and on DVD and has not addedfor those who have to work as once gritty, and an unconventional role of Al Pacino, who was surprisingly convincing. You can see that there is a role he enjoyed, and that the film was still special to him.

Love in the Afternoon [VHS]

Love in the Afternoon [VHS] Overview

Fairy-tale Paris doesn't get more enchanting than Billy Wilder's Love in the Afternoon, an ode to picnics on the grass and champagne at the Ritz. Audrey Hepburn (who had already made Sabrina with Wilder) is at her best as the inexperienced cellist with a fascination for millionaire American playboy Gary Cooper. Maurice Chevalier (who else?) is Hepburn's father, a private detective with ample evidence of Cooper's crowded history of l'amour. Alongside the sheen of the romance is Wilder's unerring sense of craftsmanship; watch how inanimate objects such as a liquor tray, a white carnation, or the little dog in the suite next door are developed into sublime running gags. The age difference between the two leads has often been questioned, but perhaps this is what gives the gossamer material the whiff of welcome melancholy. The final three minutes leave no doubt that Wilder hatched the best endings in Hollywood history. --Robert Horton

Customer Reviews

I really love "Love in the Afternoon"! I had a great impact, and do not understand why some people do not like.

For me, the film is a masterpiece. Succeeds on so many levels than any other romantic comedy. The story is beautifully acted and told. Intelligent script explores the human soul, layer by layer all the stupid things we do when we are in love and all the illogical statements we make to justify our folly, it's all there. The theme of tragic love that backgroundOften breaks our heart is seasoned with the right amount of humor to make a nice comic relief. The film is beautifully shot and the musical score is to die. The two conductors, Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn have a huge on-screen chemistry and make a fantastic, fun to watch as a couple on screen. Support for the occupation and "The Gypsy" is quite surprising.

Gary Cooper, Frank Flannagan, a beautiful American, very rich, ripe and a confirmed bachelor. He likes women, champagne,to live the life of luxury and all the best. He was never really a relationship. His philosophy does not hang. "One should always behave as if they were between the levels. A fatal encounter with a beautiful young French Ariane changes its attitude. She saves his life and spend their last afternoon in Paris. He left for America, and forget. She has not forgotten him, he is deeply in love. A year later they met again and this time he falls in love with her, butCrazy sounds mysterious and difficult to grasp, and pushes. Finally come together until the end of the film, a beautiful view, romantic and unforgettable!

I really enjoyed the movie and laughed a lot of funny scenes. There is a certain scene in which Flannagan completely with Ariane and jealous of "their past" is obsessed cut into pieces. He drinks all night and hears the voice of the message of Ariane, in which she tells her "detailed list of lovers." Gypsies Playhis favorite music. There are literally loaded with the carriage of alcohol 'and flight "back and forth between Flannagan, the band, while his message Ariane umpteenth time to play back and forth, and the music starts and stops the same way. Hilarious!

Gary Cooper's ability to take difficult balance between the tragic and the comic side is able to maintain unsurpassed! His age does not worry me at all. On the contrary, I thought that at 56 is still a great actorand extraordinarily handsome man, his body is lean and well toned, it is admirable to see and find worthy of love. And when, in reality, the difference in age between Flannagan and Ariane, a crucial point in history.

Gorgeous, elegant and talented Audrey Hepburn is beautiful to watch. Never forget his scene in the past. It's so touching! Gary Cooper is amazing too. Actually amazing is an understatement. Flannagan is forced to take the most difficult decision of his life and heit must be fast, now or never! Cooper has no lines, a few words for the last five minutes screen time, but his painful facial expression says it all. I felt her despair and pain, as if I'm on the train leaving the decision to "be or not to be." The finish could easily become too dense, but it is not. There is no sugar-coated dialogue and excessive crying, and it works wonderfully.

The message I have is the movie that is ageless and true love conquers all.If you are among the lucky few who have found their game completely indulge and enjoy your "life sentence"!

I could continue to write and wonder for the movie, but my contribution is long enough as is. I hope to have some idea what to expect and I leave you now to make your opinion. If you go ahead and "Love in the Afternoon" to see the opportunities are to decide, you can enjoy two hours of very beautiful and memorable. Seriously, not Make'em more!

Spirit of Mickey [VHS]

Spirit of Mickey [VHS] Overview

Once in a blue moon, a single character comes along and makes the whole world laugh. From the moment Mickey Mouse appeared on the big screen whistling on a steamboat, Walt Disney's endearing little mouse captured hearts and tickled funny bones. And he hasn't stopped. In celebration of the world's most famous and best-loved character, his best friends -- Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and the gang -- present Mickey through the years in his most memorable movie shorts. From Mickey's color debut in "The Band Concert," to the never-before-released-on-video "Orphan's Picnic," and "Mickey's Surprise Party," to the inspired "Mickey And The Seal," THE SPIRIT OF MICKEY is an engaging collection of Mickey's best and brightest moments.

Spirit of Mickey [VHS] Specifications

This is a solid collection of vintage Mickey Mouse cartoons, presented virtually complete, for once, and not just as a cut-and-paste clips assortment. (Introductory material is cobbled together from old Mickey Mouse Club and Wonderful World of Disney broadcasts.) The program is fun to watch, but it's also a revealing historical pageant. In classic action-comedy items like "Mickey's Trailer" and "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip," it is clear that the Disney Studio's faultless technique, even when dealing with elaborate props and frantic activity, is a tradition that was established early on. And in tales of interspecies conflict like "Lend a Paw" and "Mickey's Seal" (both involving pitched battles between Mickey's dog Pluto and cuddly interlopers in the Mouse household), we can see how that institutional polish blunts the edge of the comedy--in sharp contrast, for instance, to the rough and raucous Warner Brothers style. Purists will fume over some of the choices that were made here: no original release dates are given for the cartoons, the credit sequences are missing, and the colors have been digitally homogenized. But get real: this is mass-market shelf-filler packaged for the Disney Stores, and as such it's a cut above. --David Chute

Customer Reviews

This is a great collection of some of the best Mickey Mouse cartoons in color. It begins with "The Concert Band", which incidentally was first Mickey Mouse cartoon in color, like Minnie are linked. It is very fun and good music, both classical and complete (William Tell Overture) and Tin Pan Alley (Turkey) in the straw. "Through the Looking Glass" is a fun, but after takeoff on the classic Lewis Carroll, "Through the Looking Glass" and "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland." 1941's "Lend a Paw" won an Oscarfor the short film with the classic "Good Bar" / "Bad Pluto" plot. Next, stars Donald Duck in "Picnic orphans" with hints of bad mice that are really good for a while '. This is followed by "The Worm Turns" with a pre-Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey Mouse for a few familiar tricks are mixing a potion of force used only for the weak. "Mickey's Surprise Party" is a bit 'cartoon with Mickey and Minnie and their respective pooches, and a cookie with some bite."Mickey and the Seal" are becoming irritable Pluto and an adorable little baby seal. "Mickey's Trailer" stars unbeatable trio of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy on their way to a very wild ride. "Canine Caddy" Pluto and the Gopher teams Mickey with Goofy for a not so relaxing round of golf. "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip" new box Mickey and Pluto to a Pet-mad drivers in the form of a wooden leg, and Pete is the last cartoon in color on the video. The collection closes with "SteamboatWillie, the first synchronized sound cartoon ever made showcases Mickey in his original glory maliciously.

Although this is only the VHS, I think the quality of picture and sound are very good and the variety of choice and the intrinsic value of the cartoons themselves worth the price.

Doctor Zhivago: 30th Anniversary Edition [VHS]

Doctor Zhivago: 30th Anniversary Edition [VHS] Overview

David Lean focused all his talent as an epic-maker on Boris Pasternak's sweeping novel about a doctor-poet in revolutionary Russia. The results may sometimes veer toward soap opera, especially with the screen frequently filled with adoring close-ups of Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, but Lean's gift for cramming the screen with spectacle is not to be denied. The streets of Moscow, the snowy steppes of Russia, the house in the country taken over by ice; these are re-created with Lean's unerring sense of grandness. The movie is so lush and so long that it becomes an irresistible wallow, even when logic suffers--like Gone with the Wind before it and Titanic after. Sharif, who achieved stardom in Lean's previous film, Lawrence of Arabia, mostly looks noble, but the supporting cast is spiky: Rod Steiger as a fat-cat monster, Tom Courtenay as a self-righteous revolutionary, and Klaus Kinski and Alec Guinness in smaller roles. Geraldine Chaplin, in her adult debut, plays the doctor's compliant wife. Robert Bolt's screenplay won one of the film's five Oscars, with another going to perhaps the most immediately recognizable element of the movie: Maurice Jarre's romantic music, with its hugely popular "Lara's Theme" weaving in and out of a swooning score. --Robert Horton

Back to the Future Part III [VHS]

Back to the Future Part III [VHS] Overview

Shot back-to-back with Back to the Future II, this final chapter in the series is less hectic than that film and has the same sweet spirit of the first, albeit in a whole new setting. This time, Michael J. Fox's character ends up in the Old West of 1885, trying to prevent the death of mad scientist Christopher Lloyd at the hands of a gunman. Director Robert Zemeckis successfully blends exciting special effects with the traditions of a Western, and comes up with something original and fun. --Tom Keogh

Customer Reviews

The first two films in "Back To The Future" trilogy exploring the concept of time as never before. The viewer is taken in two different versions of 1985, twice the year 1955 catapulted back in 2015 and catapulted over a short period. The sign of continuity is amazing, the acting is inspired, and many different kinds are built, that the films are shown almost perfect gender-less. Of course, it would be hard to beat the energy of these two incredible movie, and (thoughFilm offers a courageous effort, it is not easy) do alright.

Basically, the plot of BTTF 3 in the Old West (1885 set to be precise), where Doc Brown was transported to the end of the second film. Ignoring the instructions of the doc, the young Marty McFly repairs, rather than the time machine and go back to Doc to take home. The three obstacles: Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen (the most hated gunslinger in the West), new love Clara (Doc), and an empty tank of gas inDeLorean.

Although this film does not feel disappointed or something like that has its moments of greatness, we fall just a little 'behind the magic of the first two activities. Perhaps the biggest culprit is the flatness of the funniest jokes, which were in part one and two, like the wake "up" scene and the pine family "curse of manure, but it was a bit 'stale for the third time around.

Another problem, strangely, was the fact that the filmhas more to do with character development than the previous two successors. The Marty-friendly Doc in the center, while Doc's new-found infatuation with Clara is an important part of the plot. While, in general, this kind of character-building is essentially in the movie, is kind of wasted in this case, as the fans knew the end of the trilogy's hand and then the relationship would go no further.

However, even if some of the reasons that this film is not affectedAbsolute brilliance of the first two, do not hesitate to see it and fill the innovative film trilogy in history. Not a disaster by any means, and some viewers find even more fun to "Part Two", because it is so complicated and the jokes are a little 'clearer.

Union Pacific [VHS]

Union Pacific [VHS] Overview

"The legend of Union Pacific is the drama of a nation, young, tough, prodigal and invincible, conquering with an iron highroad the endless reaches of the West." This stemwinder of a foreword strikes the pseudo-biblical/American Empire keynote for Cecil B. DeMille's "history" of building the transcontinent railroad. Only the bombast--and Arthur Rosson's second-unit direction--rises to the film's epic mission. The mustache-twirling villainy is right out of 19th-century melodrama, and the romantic triangle of Joel McCrea's railroad troubleshooter, Barbara Stanwyck's aggressively "Oirish" postmistress-on-wheels, and their black-sheep chum played by newcomer Robert Preston is a feeble distraction. Worse, the stars do their stuff on studio sets, in sterile isolation from the locomotives, Indians, and buffalo hovering slightly out of scale on process screens behind them. There's not one but two train wrecks (always a DeMille favorite); in every other department, John Ford had C.B. beat 15 years earlier with The Iron Horse. --Richard T. Jameson

Customer Reviews

My favorite western of 1939, with the excuse of Cooper, Wayne, Fonda and Power. Joel McCrea as efficient as the hero, but Cooper or any of these would make a much more romantic partners-in-the-wings for Barbara Stanwyck, perfect for their roles. Yes, the plot seems a bit 'crazy, maybe there are too many flag-wavers and stereotypical characters, but you have an entire train with famous people, a series of action sequences and a complicated romanticDance with Stanwyck through most of this movie long. Things are never boring, because there is a pantry full of thieves, the deal becomes a stage for McCrea and his gay bodyguard, often humorous. Anthony Quinn does not like his role as a crooked beard, refused to order another film by DeMille to make his future father-in-law too. Brian Donley is perfect as another devil in human form. Robert Preston, who often confused with Donlevy, has a more complicated tasktry to whose side you Stanwyck and decide who is really in love.

Customer Reviews

I LOVE this tape abs five days by the company. I've used for over 10 years. I like that five different workouts. None of them are more than 9 minutes. So when I ran it prepares for the work in the morning, I know I have the time of my training if I have left is still 6 to 9 minutes before leaving the house. It helps me to run on time, be ready, because I do not want to miss the workout. The music for the video is a bit 'of cheese / to play, butThe exercises are well choreographed to music. Thus the music, cheese, as you can, it makes sense a lot and helps you get through the workout! Nor can I also do abs, of course, but if I do, I remain a distant dream, and between, and before I know I give below the limit of 20 minutes to do the training. With the five-DAY ABS Band, just press play, lying on the floor, GET THE DOWN paid work, and then I'm outta here .... my way of working. No time to joke! It isperfect for me.

I also want a different formation every day, so do not get bored doing the same thing every day. E 'enough variety and very effective, so I keep it.

Some years ago I got a little voice recorder and used it to save the audio for all five sessions. This makes it easy to do to keep me, my abs while I am traveling. Passed away recently, my VHS tapes that I was at home. I do not know how! There must be eliminatedbehind somewhere, but I can not find it! I searched on-line is not ... Thank God I found the DVD version of the band on Amazon so I buy that. I LOVE THIS workout. I would not be surprised if I use this for 60 years. At least I hope to live so long. :)

Lawman [VHS]

Lawman [VHS] Overview

Burt Lancaster is excellent as the title character, a pitiless, unbending marshal out to arrest seven cowhands who left a dead man in the wake of a drunken tear, in this stoic, modern take on a classic Western theme. He confronts a rancher baron, trigger-happy gunmen, and the cowardly hypocrites of a frontier town: the usual bunch of Old West types sculpted into intriguing character by a crack cast. Robert Ryan brings a sad dignity to his former gunfighter tamed into a meek town marshal, and Lee J. Cobb is introspective and thoughtful as the aging cattleman weary of his life of violence: "It took guns to take this land, guns to keep it, and guns to make it grow.... Each time we bury the cost." Robert Duvall, Albert Salmi, and a young Richard Jordan (as an idealistic cowpoke whose sense of honor gets a workout in the complex conflicts) also star.

The first American feature by British director Michael Winner (who went on to make numerous tough Charles Bronson pictures, including the first three Death Wish movies) is lean and tough, with a streak of "passing of an era" melancholia, but surprisingly old-fashioned. The hard-edged, unsentimental violence, arid, austere look of the picture, and distracting overuse of zoom shots mark it as an unmistakable product of the early 1970s, but it's not so much cynical as sorrowful in its clash of ideals, and never less than clear-eyed in the presentation of harsh frontier realities. --Sean Axmaker

Customer Reviews

This is a great film, it's as if the roles Andy and Barney Fife are passed with deadly consequences. The character played by Ryan Barney sees the big picture and is pragmatic and compromise. He wants peace and tranquility in the city, though with a view on the letter of the law does sometimes. But he is weak.

Lancaster is the strong, but without concern for peace and tranquility. E 'myopic focus on the achievement of the letter of the law, without regard for the environmentCircumstances.

That said, the film is full of moral issues, and I think that most of them are very well represented. Maddox is a good man with many flaws, like the other characters. He really thinks the imperfection of the world we live and how to make the application of "rules" in a very rigorous ever sense. Maddox is not ready for any kind of compromise, until it is too late. Still, he sees his resignation and compromise, eventually, as the aging and the humilityhis character, the sympathetic and human.

This is just a brief moment, when the final gun battle looms, and moved to take his role as executioner, Hurd also spray the base price back as he fled. This is the morally vexing aspect of the film for me. Was not absolutely necessary, but in the heat of battle, perhaps Maddox just screwed. You are left wondering.

However, I found photography to be very good. Lee J. Cobb, as Bronsondoes a good job thinking of his place difficult and expensive to power and the granting of credit to which he defeated on the road. He has no stomach for further violence to his age, but if Maddox legal guns on his companion throughout his life he feels he has no choice but to fight until the end.

The role of Adam Vernon Duvall plays the kind of theme of the film in a sub-plot in miniature. He thinks he has done nothing wrong and wants to be left alone. He is ready to shoot Maddoxremove the back of hime. He is a bad (if a little 'person), but you can sympathize with the situation and ultimately fired her pride and bad decisions coming towards him.

The heroic Maddox makes so many mistakes, such as bad in this. I do not think you mean moral relativism Justice Maddox in a less violent path requested. But killing is what they do best, and that is how it is done the job. Woe to those who do not understand thatHow it works!

Apostle [VHS]

Apostle [VHS] Overview

Written, directed, and personally financed by Robert Duvall, The Apostle was the culmination of a 14-year effort on the part of its creator, who also stars as the dynamic, God-fearing Texas preacher Euliss "Sonny" Dewey. Vibrantly authentic with its use of real gospel preachers and extras carefully selected from parishes of the deep South, the film treats its complicated characters with the kind of compassion and moral complexity mainstream Hollywood wouldn't dare muster. This is especially true in the case of Sonny, who responds to his wife's infidelity with a crime of passion that sends him on a new and uncharted quest for redemption. Under the assumed identity of "The Apostle E.F.," he settles in a tiny Louisiana town to revive an old church, where he undergoes a transformation of spirit and purpose that enlivens his community. But will the law catch up to him? Does he deserve to be punished? Fueled by Duvall's powerhouse performance, The Apostle refuses to praise or condemn its fascinating central character, leaving the proper degree of forgiveness up to the viewer. Further graced with superb performances by Farrah Fawcett, Miranda Richardson, and Billy Bob Thornton, the film is clearly Duvall's labor of love. --Jeff Shannon

Where the Boys Are [VHS]

Where the Boys Are [VHS] Overview

The movie that put the Break into Spring, Where the Boys Are inspired thousands of college kids to seek sun, surf, and even s-e-x on the beaches of Florida. A bevy of co-eds (including foxy Yvette Mimieux and delightful Paula Prentiss, in her film debut) make for Fort Lauderdale, finding fun but also quite a bit of heavy-breathing drama. It's a little like a dressier, glossed-up version of the Problems with Today's Youth movies that were filling up the drive-ins of the era. The movie's actually pretty frank for 1960, although these days the lightweight stuff with Prentiss and Jim Hutton holds up best. There's also Connie Francis, who plays one of the college girls and croons the great title tune (which belongs on anybody's mix tape of classic teen-beach music). The film was remade, with vague Orwellian overtones, as Where the Boys Are 84, a truly dismal effort. --Robert Horton

National Geographic's Really Wild Animals: Totally Tropical Rain Forest [VHS] Specifications

There's a plug for environmental causes (song lyric: "If there's a place worth saving, this must be the place"), a Darwinian crack aimed at parents, and faux news broadcasts to keep things moving. But most of all there are animals, animals, animals in this 37-minute National Geographic video. If a trip to the South American rain forest isn't part of the vacation plans, this video tour aimed at kids from preschool through grade school will more than suffice. Comparing the forest layers to an apartment building, animated planet guide Spin (Dudley Moore) steps onto an elevator to explore the forest floor on up to the canopy level--meeting tapirs, jaguars, bats, and spider monkeys along the way. Meanwhile kids become familiar with concepts such as echolocation, camouflage, and the equator. Now that's infotainment! --Kimberly Heinrichs

Customer Reviews

I have three years, loves the video that we borrowed from the local library. He knows a rainforest and the layers of some animals in each layer. I am very aware of a degree in elementary education and the importance of positive exposure to new things for the children. He is angry at the part where they show the cutting of trees and said the man who will pick them up again! Hello! You need more than a suggestion? Videos like these are truly beneficial for children.

Little Bill - Me and My Family [VHS]

Little Bill - Me and My Family [VHS] Overview

Gap-toothed 5-year-old Little Bill radiates with the sunny realism of his creator, Bill Cosby, but a Fat Albert redux this series is not. For starters, pull the strings on each episode's tidy package and you'll find more family than friends. Little Bill's New York apartment, not the local junkyard, is the nexus of his universe and where he works the kinks out of his kindergartner's world alongside his parents, older sister and brother, and the improbably named and ingenious Alice the Great, his great-grandmother. Inside, there's a whole lot of togetherness going on: Me and My Family's four episodes encapsulate a crowded car ride to Super Family Fun Land (a two-parter), the forming of a neighborhood cleanup committee tasked with clearing a trash-strewn lot, and the dusting off of a time-honored family tradition as Alice the Great breaks out her magic quilt to keep the bogeyman at bay. The look of this series also is something of a novelty--it shares the Colorformish quality of its sister Nick Jr. series Blue's Clues, an effect that adds to its producers' keep-it-real commitment. That said, anybody intimate enough with the realness of inner-city strife may not be blamed for criticizing the sedateness of this show. Otherwise, the youngster himself isn't the only likable part of Little Bill. This being a Cosby creation, there's music--vintage-sounding jazz melodies thread through each story, guaranteeing a finger-snapping good time for parents as well as their more preoccupied preschoolers. --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Reviews

First item on the agenda - the editorial "Reviewer for Amazon says that this show is set in New York. FALSE, Tammy is a show set Cosby's hometown, Philadelphia. Look at the buildings in the skyline shots and frequent figure it out. However, what you find is a middle class family in a middle class neighborhood to a city that is as racially diverse as the employment of children that we see in this exhibition. In other words, it is true to life.

It's really refreshing to hear a child animated characterhis voice (as I can tell) is actually performed by a child * *. Once again, it fits the reality. And behind all this is that the simplicity and credibility of the tram lines. Nothing to measure, or grandparents, but always fascinating and inspiring.

If I were to make a criticism, is that the show seems a lot of preschool children have information for a person who attends the school. That's why some episodes appeal to younger viewers than the others. Our child is almost 3-1/2 and developed aInterest in the show, but I do not think these are all the episodes as an appeal to young people. Time will tell if the stories remain interesting, as our child approaches age Little Bill.

But this is very thin, and is a critical weakness. In the meantime, I find it amazing that the same score jazz, which targets both for us as parents is next for our young viewers.

Yes, children of one race are fans of cartoon characters from a different race. Yes, a simpleAnimation style is enough to give life problems that are important for young children. Yes, children enjoy jazz soundtracks in their TV diet. Hats off to Cosby and his team, and Nickelodeon, to bring this to the screen.

Well, let's see more episodes on tape and DVD!

I made this video for a friend, after a few years earlier. This is an incredible story and it makes sense to me. I firmly believe in the potential effectiveness of the application of ethics, good health, nutrition and controls to prevent and treat diseases. I always thought the easiest way to fight cancer, would be excluded from what is happening in the first. I believe that the teaching of the day Dr. classroom and provides a method and a very strong support for this approach, at least for some people. She also took on whole new level, where the effectiveness, to see their application to a person in an advanced stage of cancer. My understanding is that medical science is now recognized that something as simple as can be high in fruits in the diet is a big difference in reducing the risk of cancer to be done. And this despite the influences from the pharmaceutical industry. It seems that consciousness can all make a difference for some people, and this video isprobably the ideal place to start.

Customer Reviews

Two nice, funny, well cast girls play the part of Heather and Heidi Burge. So many emotions are felt and not only this movie: happiness, sadness and a little 'excitement! I never said this is one of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movie, when prompted, but then every time I look at it. My only problem with the film are as follows:

Although it can be fun, "the father who has not the slightest idea" action will be used increasingly. There are fewParts where you made the story interesting.

So, basically I only have a small problem with the film. Otherwise, it's great! But I can not wait to get on the Disney Channel, before you buy.
