Love in the Afternoon [VHS]

Love in the Afternoon [VHS] Overview

Fairy-tale Paris doesn't get more enchanting than Billy Wilder's Love in the Afternoon, an ode to picnics on the grass and champagne at the Ritz. Audrey Hepburn (who had already made Sabrina with Wilder) is at her best as the inexperienced cellist with a fascination for millionaire American playboy Gary Cooper. Maurice Chevalier (who else?) is Hepburn's father, a private detective with ample evidence of Cooper's crowded history of l'amour. Alongside the sheen of the romance is Wilder's unerring sense of craftsmanship; watch how inanimate objects such as a liquor tray, a white carnation, or the little dog in the suite next door are developed into sublime running gags. The age difference between the two leads has often been questioned, but perhaps this is what gives the gossamer material the whiff of welcome melancholy. The final three minutes leave no doubt that Wilder hatched the best endings in Hollywood history. --Robert Horton

I really love "Love in the Afternoon"! I had a great impact, and do not understand why some people do not like.

For me, the film is a masterpiece. Succeeds on so many levels than any other romantic comedy. The story is beautifully acted and told. Intelligent script explores the human soul, layer by layer all the stupid things we do when we are in love and all the illogical statements we make to justify our folly, it's all there. The theme of tragic love that backgroundOften breaks our heart is seasoned with the right amount of humor to make a nice comic relief. The film is beautifully shot and the musical score is to die. The two conductors, Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn have a huge on-screen chemistry and make a fantastic, fun to watch as a couple on screen. Support for the occupation and "The Gypsy" is quite surprising.

Gary Cooper, Frank Flannagan, a beautiful American, very rich, ripe and a confirmed bachelor. He likes women, champagne,to live the life of luxury and all the best. He was never really a relationship. His philosophy does not hang. "One should always behave as if they were between the levels. A fatal encounter with a beautiful young French Ariane changes its attitude. She saves his life and spend their last afternoon in Paris. He left for America, and forget. She has not forgotten him, he is deeply in love. A year later they met again and this time he falls in love with her, butCrazy sounds mysterious and difficult to grasp, and pushes. Finally come together until the end of the film, a beautiful view, romantic and unforgettable!

I really enjoyed the movie and laughed a lot of funny scenes. There is a certain scene in which Flannagan completely with Ariane and jealous of "their past" is obsessed cut into pieces. He drinks all night and hears the voice of the message of Ariane, in which she tells her "detailed list of lovers." Gypsies Playhis favorite music. There are literally loaded with the carriage of alcohol 'and flight "back and forth between Flannagan, the band, while his message Ariane umpteenth time to play back and forth, and the music starts and stops the same way. Hilarious!

Gary Cooper's ability to take difficult balance between the tragic and the comic side is able to maintain unsurpassed! His age does not worry me at all. On the contrary, I thought that at 56 is still a great actorand extraordinarily handsome man, his body is lean and well toned, it is admirable to see and find worthy of love. And when, in reality, the difference in age between Flannagan and Ariane, a crucial point in history.

Gorgeous, elegant and talented Audrey Hepburn is beautiful to watch. Never forget his scene in the past. It's so touching! Gary Cooper is amazing too. Actually amazing is an understatement. Flannagan is forced to take the most difficult decision of his life and heit must be fast, now or never! Cooper has no lines, a few words for the last five minutes screen time, but his painful facial expression says it all. I felt her despair and pain, as if I'm on the train leaving the decision to "be or not to be." The finish could easily become too dense, but it is not. There is no sugar-coated dialogue and excessive crying, and it works wonderfully.

The message I have is the movie that is ageless and true love conquers all.If you are among the lucky few who have found their game completely indulge and enjoy your "life sentence"!

I could continue to write and wonder for the movie, but my contribution is long enough as is. I hope to have some idea what to expect and I leave you now to make your opinion. If you go ahead and "Love in the Afternoon" to see the opportunities are to decide, you can enjoy two hours of very beautiful and memorable. Seriously, not Make'em more!
