Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country [VHS] Overview
Star Trek V left us nowhere to go but up, and with the return of
Star Trek II director Nicholas Meyer,
Star Trek VI restored the movie series to its classic blend of space opera, intelligent plotting, and engaging interaction of stalwart heroes and menacing villains. Borrowing its subtitle (and several lines of dialogue) from Shakespeare, the movie finds Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) and his fellow
Enterprise crew members on a diplomatic mission to negotiate peace with the revered Klingon Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner). When the high-ranking Klingon and several officers are ruthlessly murdered, blame is placed on Kirk, whose subsequent investigation uncovers an assassination plot masterminded by the nefarious Klingon General Chang (Christopher Plummer) in an effort to disrupt a historic peace summit. As this political plot unfolds,
Star Trek VI takes on a sharp-edged tone, with Kirk and Spock confronting their opposing views of diplomacy, and testing their bonds of loyalty when a Vulcan officer is revealed to be a traitor. With a dramatic depth befitting what was to be the final movie mission of the original
Star Trek crew, this film took the veteran cast out in respectably high style. With the torch being passed to the crew of
Star Trek: The Next Generation, only Kirk, Scotty, and Chekov would return, however briefly, in
Star Trek: Generations.

After the commercial failure and critical part of EPIC 5, almost no longer the franchise. They had different ideas for a new movie, maybe a new series. I almost go-ahead for a prequel called Starfleet, but the project was abandoned (although it took some ideas from him for the restart, 2009). Leonard Nimoy then came up with an idea for a sixth film. He asked, "What if the wall came down in space?" He was referring to the events of the Cold War. So they decided to followhis suggestion and produce the sixth Star Trek movie. Many consider this one of the best Star Trek movie, and watch some people who are on the same level as the "Wrath of Khan." I like this movie, but I do not like as much as two or four parts. And I think at the same level as in Search for Spock. It 's a good Star Trek movie, but there are better.
The film is set some years after the events of the fifth part. In the time since the last film to be given Suluhis command, the starship Excelsior. The crew of the Enterprise a few weeks before retirement. The events of the previous film, are not even mentioned. And 'as they say, "Well, we really ruined last year. We just want to say film never happened, okay?" And that's fine with me. You try the themes of the trilogy that was a smart move on their part to carry. The film begins with Sulu and the Excelsior discover that the explosion of a Klingon moon. The moon, the practice has been the key energy production facility Klingon Empire and the Klingon Empire is now in turmoil. They call for a peace treaty with the Federation. Kirk and the Enterprise is ordered to meet with Chancellor Gorkon and accompany him to the ground. This is difficult to Kirk, because, as his son David was killed in a few years earlier by Klingons. However, Kirk tries to be gentle with the Klingons, and aboard the 'Enterprise for dinner in a great, funScene. Kirk meets Gorkon Azetbur daughter, and his chief of staff, General Chang. Kirk Chang seems particularly interested in seeing him as a fellow warrior.
When they near Earth, the Enterprise suddenly appears on the Klingon ship fires. Then two men dressed in beam space on the Klingon ship. They kill more Klingons, including Gorkon. Kirk beams over the Klingon ship, and he and McCoy are sent to a prison planet. Later, flee and try to find out who framed them. They conclude that attacks the Enterprise, "Gorkon ship, was a Klingon ship, the fire, but you can disguise. The two men who were beamed on the Klingon ship and killed two officers Enterprise Gorkon. Kirk and of 'crew conspiracy expose, to halt the peace talks. If you are planning another run at the peace conference. go to the Peace Conference to intervene, but are intercepted by Chang and camouflaged bird of prey. Shoot the Enterprise, to cause serious damage . SpockMcCoy edit a torpedo, which follows the invisible predator and blows on him. Then he threw up the peace conference just in time to save the Federation President is assassinated. All charges against Kirk and his crew were killed, and they are asked to go home. However, they decide to go on a cruise last before they are decomissioned.
As I said, this is a satisfactory end of the first film series Star Trek. Kirk has again toowith the old. It also has to overcome his own bigotry and accept what has happened to the Klingons. I do not think this film is one of the best Trek film, but it's a great movie and a great sendoff for the team from the original series.
